Corolla www.co.currituck.nc.us and www.outerbanks.com/corolla/

Once a sleepy village on The Outer Banks in Currituck County with some of the widest beaches and it sleeps no more. The shopping is close, history is all around and the outdoor adventures are plentiful. You can drive North to the end of the road… feel adventurous and take your 4WD (not AWD) onto the sand and continue driving. I love to see the wild horses running around the dunes and you can still find spots for peace and quiet.
My Food Favorite -- Guava Jelly’s for lunch and Nicoletta’s Italian Café for dinner
My Fun Time – Four Wheel Driving on the beach (www.OuterBanksTours.com)

Duck www.townofduck.com

A real village packed with boutiques, book stores, coffee shops and salons. It is a great place to own a home because you can access the village via your bike. They have a very nice bike trail to provide safety and enjoyment. A difference to note is the residential subdivisions have private beach access (the beach is public) You can also take a tour of the Army Corps of Engineers Research Center. Check out the web cam at the pier -- www.OuterBanks.net/webcams/cam/Duck-Research-North.html/

My Food Favorite – Pizzazz Pizza for lunch and Blue Point Bar & Grill for dinner
My Fun Time – Pampering myself at Complements

Southern Shores www.southernshores.org

A beautifully planned community. The homes are nestled into the natural vegetation which gives you the warmth, serenity and privacy you want in a home butwhen you smell the salt air you know you are at the beach.
My Food Favorite – Cosmo’s Pizzeria for lunch and Meridian 42 for dinner
My Fun Favorite – The shopping plazas provide everything you need in a small radius

Kitty Hawk www.townofkittyhawk.org

This the first true taste of The Outer Banks Beaches when you arrive from the North. A Hilton Garden Center is a new addition for lodging in 2006. Kitty Hawk has the Seascape Golf Course and many of the homes surrounding the course have ocean views although they are a few blocks from the beach.
My Food Favorite – IanJay Café for lunch and Black Pelican for dinner (oceanview available)
My Fun Time – Driving the beach road and seeing the waves and the surfers

Kill Devil Hills  www.kdhnc.com

My office is located here so what more can you want! You cannot come to The Outer Banks and not visit The Wright Brothers Memorial. It is splendid and the Park Rangers keep you mesmerized as they tell the story. You will find the highest concentration of commercial establishments in Kill Devil Hills; therefore wherever you reside you will be centrally located.
My Food Favorite – Mama Kwan’s for lunch and Kill Devil Grill for dinner
My Fun Time – Taking an air tour from the Wright Brothers Airfield and seeing The Outer Banks from the air

Nags Head www.townofnagshead.net

The name seems to be synonymous with the entire 100+ miles of beach. Many times you hear people say they vacationed in Nags Head when in fact they stayed at a hotel in Kill Devil Hills. Nags Head extends south to the National Park Service and the views from homes in South Nags Head are breathtaking. It is amazing to realize you can see the Ocean and the Sound from your living room. The Village at Nags Head is a golf course community that stretches from the oceanfront to the soundfront and provides a mix of year round residents as well as second homes and investment property.
My Food Favorite – Tortugas’ Lie Shellfish Bar & Grill for lunch and Lone Cedar Restaurant for dinner
My Fun Time – Climbing Jockey’s Ridge where you can see the world. It is a challenge to climb the largest natural sand dune on the East Coast.

Manteo www.townofmanteo.com

I reside here -- I love Island Living. My drive from Manteo to the beach is 10 minutes (stop light timing on my side). Manteo is the Dare County Seat where the wealth of American history on Roanoke Island surrounds you. Manteo is experiencing residential growth and has the eye of the babyboomers looking for a second home or relocating to telecommute. The Manteo Waterfront is beautiful and the downtown shops provide tremendous variety. If you can’t find it there you probably can’t find it anywhere. You’ll find pottery mixed with museums; bookstores mixed with ecotourism; boutiques mixed with a blacksmith. Everyone needs to look closer at Manteo. www.roanokeisland.com
My Food Favorite – Stripers in Shallowbag Bay for lunch and Full Moon Cafe for outdoor dining
My Fun Time – Tough one, so I need to provide a list…Roanoke Festival Park for outdoor concerts, Roanoke Island Aquarium to view the large fish tank and walk the beautiful soundfront property, last would be enjoy The Lost Colony, America’s longest running Outdoor Drama and I never miss stopping at Lady Banks for a little shopping.

Hatteras Island www.darenc.com and www.hatteras-nc.com

This is a wellknown windsurfers paradise. A spectacular scenic drive takes you through the Cape Hatteras National Seashore across Oregon Inlet to Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and continuing through the Towns of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco arriving in Hatteras Village to wait for the Ferry to Ocracoke Island. Hatteras Island has the most recognized Lighthouse (which made the news when it was moved away from the eroding shoreline) but Hatteras Island provides great camping (Tent & RVs), the best fishing, modest to luxury homes and offers true relaxation at the beach! (including Spa Koru)
My Food Favorite – Froggy Dog for lunch and Dolphin Den for dinner
My Fun Time – Visiting the Lighthouses (Bodie & Hatteras) and spending a relaxing day biking Ocracoke Island.
